Exercise 10

Battement Frappé

Ball of foot strikes surface of floor as leg extends to open position.

2 x frappé devant, 3 x faster a la seconde, 2 x frappé derriere and
3 x faster á la second.
Rise demi-pointe and
double frappé en croié (cross) finish, with petit battement
on relevé.
Repeat from the back (reverse).
Attitude front.

Battement frappé exercise is concentrating on working speed of footwork...

Again in preparation for the allegro and also the battu because we are getting the beats of the double frappé and also the petite battement.
Here we work from the whole leg on the derrier en devante, whereas in the Second
Position we work from the lower leg maintaining the turnout in the thigh.

Keep the thigh open and work from the heel.

Sutenue to the other side.

Again battement frappé is a very sharp and fast exercise as a preparation for quick movement in the center exercise.

Reverse accent out, out and out.

Then finish.
