Exercise 13
Grand Battement
In this grand battement exercise,
flexibiltiy and control in the turnout are key elements here.
2 x grand battement devant, switch legs and 2 x grand battement derriere,
á la seconde First Position,
2 x derriere, grand battement á la seconde battement, passé and pirouette
en dehors from Fifth Position close to the back.
Repeat the hole exercise to the back except without
pirouette, but open battement tendu a la seconde demi-plié and sutenu to
the other side.
|
Working through
each of the positions, devant, second, and arabesque
we finish with a piroette... and reverse.
|
Arabesque, the
upper body stays square...
We use the same brush through the floor that was used
on the battement tendu and jeté.
|
|
|
|
The important thing in the
grand battement is the supporting leg...
keep it nice and strong as the working leg works away from it,
while the lines are kept straight and centered. |
Make sure to keep stretched at
the back of the knee in the second...
and control the legs as they lower into the fifth position. |
|
Turn and finish. |
